OUR PRIVACY POLICY

At AHCEM the Association for Health Care educators of the Midwest, we want you to feel comfortable and secure when you visit our site. We've created this Web privacy policy to help you understand what information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it and what choices you have concerning our use of it.

Your Personal Information

Personal information refers to specific facts used to identify you as an individual. This information includes your name, address or AHCEM member identification (ID) number. We collect personal information over the Internet only when you supply it to us, and we use it in the following ways:

E-mails

This online program provides you with the opportunity to receive communications from us or third parties. For example, you have the option of signing up for motivational e-mail messages that will be sent only if you choose to participate. If you'd rather not receive these messages, simply indicate your preference at registration, or at any time, by updating your user profile. As part of your preference flexibility, you'll always have the option to opt back in.

E-mails you send to us via the e-mail links on our site may be shared with a AHCEM Board representative, member, medical expert or agent who can address your inquiry. We make every effort to respond in a timely fashion once your e-mail is received. When we've responded to your e-mail, we may discard or archive it depending on the nature of your inquiry. The e-mail functionality on our site doesn't provide a completely secure and confidential means of communication. It's possible your e-mail may be accessed or viewed by another Internet user while in transit to us. If you wish to keep your e-mails private, don't use our e-mail, instead, send a letter by U.S. mail or call our Member Services.

Registration

When you register for your secure member Web page, we collect your name so we can link you to the "Members Only" section of our website. For security, we also collect a password that is created for your initials and last four digits of your social security number. All registration information is kept permanently in a secure database that's maintained by AHCEM.

Nonpersonal Information

To learn what areas of our site are most popular, we collect anonymous, nonpersonal data about the pages you go to. We do this through the use of cookies--small files that are placed on your computers hard drive. Each cookie is automatically deleted after a period of time or when you close your Web browser. If you don't want to accept cookies, you can set your browser to do so. If you do this, you'll still be able to visit parts of our site, but you won't be able to view areas that require you to accept a disclaimer or to log in.

Technical Safeguards

AHCEM uses an industry standard technology call secure sockets layer (SSL) to guarantee the integrity and confidentiality of the information you give us. SSL encrypts all communications between AHCEM and your Web browser, so no one can eavesdrop on the information we exchange with you. SSL is used on all parts of the site that ask you for personal information, send you confidential information or require you to log in for further access. SSL comes in different strengths. HealthPartners uses 128-bit SSL--the strongest available version.

Employee Code of Conduct

When you submit personal information over our Web site, the only people who are allowed to see it are those who need it in order to provide the information or service you requested. We may need to share your personal information to comply with legal, regulatory or accreditation requirements.

What about links to other sites?

For you reference, this Web site may contain links to Web sites operated by third parties. The inclusion of any link doesn't imply endorsement by AHCEM of that Web site. This Privacy Policy applies only to this Web site. Please be aware that AHCEM isn't responsible for and has no control over the privacy policies and practices of third party sites. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that requests personal information from you.

Who should I call if I have other questions?

We encourage you to contact us if you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your privacy rights. If you have questions, please call Dennis Denning, Information Manager at 651-633-0748.
